We are a collective voice for parents of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). We are a growing voluntary organisation run by a management committee of volunteer parent carers and supported by a part time paid member of staff based at North Yorkshire & York Forum.
As parents and carers we encourage you to become members and have your views and opinions listened to so that they can directly influence the services that are available for our children and for families across North Yorkshire.
We work alongside all the parent support groups in North Yorkshire to help keep parents and carers informed of both local and national news and events which affect us all.
Our management committee of parents attend the following meetings hosted by North Yorkshire County Council:
SEND workstrands; Finance & Commissioning, ACT Implementation, Inclusive Education
Children's Trust Board
SEND Steering Group
SEND Strategy 2015-18 Development (including a Parent Reference Group of volunteer parents)
North Yorkshire & York Autism Strategic Partnership
Parents' Reference Group - Help & Support Pathway. The key objective is to work with the local authority to design a new approach to service provision for children with disabilities and their families and to ensure that planning, development and consultation is actively informed by parents' views and opinions.
